Colorful Recycled Paper

Kindergarten lesson overview:

This art project is from the color unit.  Students created recycled paper by using scrap paper.  The students first selected various colors to create a nice color scheme.  Then the students tore paper into small pieces and soaked it in water.  After the pieces of paper sat in the water, the students tore the paper a little more and put it into a pile on a plate.  Lastly, a towel was used to press out some of the excess water.  After the project completely dried, it became recycled paper!

Essential questions:

-What are warm colors?

-What are cool colors?

-What is the process of creating recycled paper?

Objectives:

1) Through a discussion on warm and cool colors, students will correctly explain the difference between warm and cool colors.

2) After a demonstration on creating recycled paper, students will successfully create recycled paper using warm and cool colors.
